RELACIÓN DE ESPAÑA CON AMÉRICA: CONQUISTA, COMERCIO Y LEYENDA NEGRA
(Spain in America: Conquest, Commerce, Human Rights and the Spanish Black Legend)
June 21-26, 2020
We are pleased to announce that this year's summer symposium will be again held in Cádiz (Andalucía), one of the The New York Times list of 52 places to go in 2019! This six-day program includes five "class" days and is designed for adults who are comfortable learning in Spanish. We will explore some of the major themes in the 400-year history of "Spain in America" with an eye toward understanding how this history has shaped popular American views of Hispanic culture, a matter of acute interest today as Latinos make up nearly 20 percent of the population of the United States.

Our events bring together alumni, parents and friends of the SYA community . As a component of the each event we often feature alumni and guest speakers who are global thought leaders in their field. Below, Chase Robinson FR'80 addresses alumni, parents and friends at our event at the Cultural Services of the French Embassy in NYC in September 2018.
- Can I bring a guest?
- Why do most events have a registration fee?
- I haven't received an invitation. Why?
- I am unable to attend. Should I let you know?
Of course! Please register your guest using the appropriate selection from the drop-down menu. The registration form limits you to three guests. Depending on capacity and under special circumstances we can allow additional guests. Please contact email@example.com for more information.
SYA's budget supports many areas, including the day-to-day operations of our campuses. We offer an early registration discount to encourage you to register in a timely manner.
Charging a registration fee helps to offset event expenses allowing more funds to be applied to operating the schools. We've also found that a registration fee greatly reduces the number of no shows at events, which also helps SYA's budget by more accurately forecasting the actual number of attendees for catering and venue costs.
SYA regrets that it is unable to process any refunds. In the event of a cancellation, we can designate your payment as a donation to the SYA Fund.
Have you moved? We invite alumni, parents and friends to events near their home, school or work, depending on the address information we have on record. Please let us know if we need to update our information. We'd love to invite you to events nearby!
