Extracurriculars Abroad: I boxed while abroad in Italy!
Favorite SYA Class: Italian class, learning the language was of course my favorite. It was fun to be able to learn and then use it when I talk to my host family.
Favorite Food in Italy: Spaghetti alle vongole (Spaghetti with clams)
How did SYA impact your college search process?
SYA college counseling assisted me in getting my foot through the door by getting a letter of recommendation.
Do you have a favorite memory with your host family?
One of my favorite host family memories is when my host family and my friends' host family all had dinner together! It was one of the last days but the dinner was full of talking, laughs and good times.
What did you learn abroad that surprised you?
I noticed how much more laid back their lifestyle is in Italy. I’ve never heard much about it before and I’ve always grown up conditioned to be on time and disciplined with work. I noticed in Italy they are a lot more relaxed with it and that surprised me.
