Modernisme is one of the most remarkable architectural hallmarks of Barcelona. Undoubtedly, Modernisme or Art Nouveau flourished in Barcelona and the most beautiful examples are there. However, learning about the spread of that artistic language around Spain was an exciting discovery for me. Both because some Catalan architects moved from Barcelona and other ones learned the style in college, we can find astonishing modernist buildings in unexpected places like Zaragoza, Teruel, Zamora or even Melilla, in northern Africa. How do these examples differ from those in Barcelona? How did those extravagant constructions impact the locals? Could they become a valuable tourist attraction for those medieval and historic towns?

Conversational skills in Spanish is recommended.
