The mission of the Alumni Office is to connect our alumni community with our school and with each other, as well as fostering lifelong relationships among the greater SYA community. We encourage frequent visits to our website and subscribing to electronic communications to learn about exciting initiatives happening at each of our campuses and the home office , upcoming events, news about fellow alumni and more.

Get involved

Volunteering is a meaningful way to make a difference to SYA, to the young people it prepares for lives of global citizenship, to prospective parents who are making the decision to let their children attend SYA and to the alumni who often renew old friendships and discover new ones.

Volunteer opportunities

Knowing you're helping a cause you believe in is a really nice feeling and one of the primary rewards of volunteering. Whether it be helping organize your class's first — or 50th — reunion or playing a pivotal role in our next giving day or spreading the word about SYA to future students, let us know how you'd like to be involved. Imagine what the world would be like if every student lived abroad for a year of high school like you did. SYA needs volunteers to help make that happen.

(Not only does volunteering help you feel good by sharing your SYA experience, adding volunteer activities to your college app or resume looks good, too.)

Class Ambassadors

Class Ambassadors support the mission of SYA by promoting and facilitating class engagement, thus strengthening relationships within the SYA alumni community. SYAers are always on the go. We need your help in tracking down new emails and addresses. Ambassadors also champion the importance of financial support, waving the banner for participation in the SYA Fund among classmates. Contact the Alumni Office if you would like to help.

Virtual Giving Advocate

Join our virtual giving platform as an advocate to encourage others to make a gift to SYA. There are multiple opportunities to participate each year. Contact Samantha Quinn, Director of Annual Giving and Stewardship, for more information.

Admissions Ambassadors

Admissions Ambassadors, our youngest alumni, promote their SYA experience back on their high school campus. Learn more about becoming an SYA Admissions Ambassador.

Events and webinars

Reunion committee members assist with organizing and planning class milestone reunions or virtual class chats. Event committee members assist with organizing social gatherings, such as geographic, young alumni and college-based receptions.

Consider being a moderator or a panelist on a webinar.
