Three young people smiling at the camera for a selfie while visiting Ciudadela de Pamplona

This photo was taken during the independent travel I took during the first semester to Pamplona, Navarre at the Ciudadela de Pamplona. Independent travel was a great opportunity to discover a lesser known part of the country and bonding with friends.

A towering stone structure with a red-tiled roof

This is a photo I captured of the Puente de Piedra in Zaragoza during a photography competition during orientation in September to get to know the city. This was the first field work activity we did, and I have found exploring during field work, both guided and independently, to be very helpful in learning about Spain.

A photo of three young people in a store trying on hats and taking a selfie

This is a photo of my friends and I going shopping together when we were still getting to know each other. My friends have been invaluable to my experience at SYA, making it much more rewarding by gaining strong, authentic connections.

A close-up view of a black and white cat's face, standing in a field

This is a photo I took with my digital camera of a stray cat in Hondarribia, Basque Country during academic travel. I've discovered photography to be a passion of mine by bringing my camera to all the new places we visit. I am able to engage deeper in observing the places I visit by searching for the best photographs.
