- Class of SYA Spain 1981 Scholar

My name is Maya, and I attend St. Paul’s School in Concord, New Hampshire. My hometown is Sugar Loaf, New York, and I am an actor, singer and dancer.
I applied to SYA to become fluent in Spanish as my family is fluent, and to have the opportunity to live in another country and immerse myself in a new culture. I hope to fully embrace Spanish culture and continually fuel my curiosity for exploration and discovery in our world. I’m looking forward to becoming fluent in Spanish by making local friends and visiting different parts of Spain. I want to say a huge thank you to the donors who have made this year possible for me. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to study abroad during high school, and I am deeply grateful to have this chapter in my life.
