I'm Candace, a junior from Atlanta, Georgia. I attend Episcopal High School in Alexandria, Virginia. My interests include yearbook club, spirit committee, theatre and badminton. I am also excited for service opportunities at SYA, including one at the Institut franco-américain.

These first few weeks, I have been having such a wonderful time trying new things and taking myself out of my comfort zone. I am using this year as a way to not only learn a new language but also learn more about myself and the world around me. I applied to SYA because it has always been a goal of mine to learn a new language. I also love that I am now getting the experience of a day student. I was intrigued by the idea of a host family and all of the other amazing things that the SYA program has to offer. I am looking forward to the time when I am able to truly feel like I have a grasp of the language. I am also looking forward to our amazing trips such as Bordeaux and Paris.
