July 2026

Dear Members of the SYA Community,

It is such a privilege that one of my first tasks as president is to thank our community for an incredible SYA Fund! While the $1,329,417 raised is worthy of hearty celebration, I feel even deeper appreciation for the incredible level of participation represented in over 800 gifts. Every gift, regardless of size, is an investment in our mission, our students, and the bright future of SYA.

The success of this year's SYA Fund demonstrates something much larger than a fundraising achievement. It reflects the strength of a community united by a shared belief in the transformative power of immersive global education. As I begin my tenure, I do so with gratitude for the foundation built by those who came before me, with a special thank you to Tom Hassan who so thoughtfully handed over the presidency with wisdom, guidance, and enthusiasm over the past year. Tom had a wonderful last year as president connecting with so many of you and celebrating meaningful moments together. The enthusiasm for what SYA creates in this world is palpable, and I am thrilled to build on that momentum.

In the months ahead, my priority is simple: to listen, learn, and meet as many members of the SYA community as possible so I can understand what makes this institution so meaningful to generations of students, families, alumni, faculty, and friends. Please stay tuned for opportunities to share your stories with me across this year at both in-person and virtual events. I am energized by the opportunity to take SYA into its next chapter together with all of you. Fueled by the same spirit of collaboration that led to another successful SYA Fund, together we will ensure that SYA continues to live its mission and impact lives in the ever-changing context of our world.
