Overview
SYA Summer, an extension of School Year Abroad (SYA), offers five-week summer programs in China, France, Italy and Spain that run from June through July. Inspired by SYA, a pioneer in high school study abroad since 1964, SYA Summer Language Institutes, in China, France and Spain, are designed for students who are dedicated to dramatically improving their language proficiency.
Each program focuses on intensive language instruction and immersion in the culture, enabling you to make significant progress in the language while experiencing the sights and sounds of the city and country you are joining.
SYA Summer's newest initiative in Italy has an added global studies component. Students will take introductory, practical, real-life Italian classes as well as participate in seminars, taught in English, which will focus on a different global issue each week.
Lodging with a caring host family; numerous extracurricular opportunities; frequent afternoon and weekend excursions in and around Beijing, Rennes, Viterbo or Zaragoza and a carefully planned week of travel at the end of each session add up to one positive summer experience of growth.
