In September 1964 twelve boys and three teachers traveled by student ship to Spain to become the very first class of "Schoolboys Abroad." Since then, our name and means of transportation have changed, but our mission remains very much the same to provide students with the opportunity for cultural and linguistic immersion along with rigorous academic work in their core American courses. At our school in Zaragoza, Spanish language, literature, history and art history are offered in Spanish and taught by native teachers, while English and mathematics are taught in English by American faculty.
All students are individually placed with a Spanish host family, sharing fully in their lives and speaking their language. Students also participate in a wide array of activities sports, art, music and dance in the community and travel to sites near and far, both independently and with the school.
Applicants for this program must currently be studying in Spanish level two or above.
